Meredith Hatton, Solicitor and Principal of Meredith Hatton & Associates

Meredith Hatton grew up in western Canada and came to Australia (Sydney) as a teenager in 1984 with her family. 

Meredith attended the University of Sydney where she obtained her tertiary qualifications (BA (Hons) and LLB) between 1989 and 1995. Meredith was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 1997.

Meredith moved to the Southern Highlands in 1998 and since that time has practiced primarily in the areas of Family Law and Conveyancing. 

In 2005 Meredith was one of the first Australian legal practitioners to become qualified and commence practice as a Collaborative Practitioner, thereby significantly extending the dispute resolution options she could offer her clients. She undertook advanced training in Collaborative Practice in 2007. After gaining valuable experience in this area of dispute resolution she was regularly engaged by UTS to work as part of a team training other professionals in Collaborative Practice.

In 2009, after many years of working as an employed solicitor, Meredith started her own practice which is today known as Meredith Hatton & Associates.

In 2012 Meredith undertook further training and became a mediator, once again expanding the services and skills she makes available to her clients.

Meredith is the author of the "Divorce Survival Guide", which is a book specifically aimed at helping those going through separation navigate the road to a successful negotiatioon. Written over a number of years, this work was first published in 2017. 

Meredith is a member of the Law Society of NSW, Collaborative Professionals (NSW) Inc and AIFLAM (Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators). 

In her private life Meredith has volunteered for many years as a coach with Bowral United Football Club coaching teams from U9 through to U13 years.
